Are we "all in this together" with regards to the budget cuts?

Yes. We may be 'in it all together', but the end result is different.

Some people are certainly faring quite well out of all the cuts and of course I know plenty of people (me included) that are feeling the impact, whether directly though things like the rise in Value Added tax (VAT) or indirectly through more work in less time (your team may not be allowed to hire extra staff even though you need it for example).

I think that the approach the Government has taken is too harsh and although it will probably work in the long run I can't help think perhaps there was a better solution. The Labour camp stated repeatedly that the Government needed to spend money in order to encourage private companies to keep trading, banks loaning money and for ordinary householders to stay on the high street. I don't know if this strategy would have worked, but I'd have much preferred to see them in power than the Coalition Government.
