Does Google Wave work for mass communication?

No, it's way too noisy

It's like IM; you don't want to IM with big groups; it's overwhelming.

I had hoped it would

Google being the largest search service, I thought it would be up their alley to focus on scaling collaboration to large numbers of people.  But I haven't seen much effort in that direction so far. Supporting large numbers of small-scale collaborations in better ways is something, but not what we need for effectively organizing large numbers of people working together.
