How can Yoomoot get more publicity without vast sums of investment money or ex-Facebook employees?

Word of mouth

I think historically it has been and continues to be the best form of advertising. The publicity is biased and subjective... negative or positive.

That doesn't sound too promising, but it is. The reason? Because those comments will come from ordinary users that promote or discredit it to their friends/colleagues/contacts. People don't expect their friends to sound like a polished advertisment trying desperately to sell you something, they expect to be told the truth about their own experience.

If all the Yoomooters on here go and spread the word then more people will come to find out. What better advertising could there be?

Enabling users to post questions/answers on their social channels.

A simple "tweet this" button, or "like" on facebook, hidden on the right sidebar of every entry would enable users to use their existing web presence to seek out answers from their existing peers. This would bring back users who are willing and able to engage in the conversation, as well as driving traffic to the site. :-)
